We Need You!
Are you interested in providing support to students who are having trouble progressing through their course?
Almost 1,000 students have their progress reviewed by Course Unsatisfactory Progress Committees every year. These committees can restrict or even terminate a student’s enrolment, so they can be a big deal.
The Student Union has developed a program through which students are trained to provide support to students who are called to a Progress Committee meeting.
We are seeking volunteers who are:
- interested in the welfare of students
- excited about giving something back to the University community
- keen to meet people
As a volunteer you will have half a day of training after which you’ll attend faculty Progress Committee sessions during the summer and/or winter vacation. You will only be expected to assist for short periods at a time.
Volunteer training is held in December and June.
Next Session
Summer Progress Committee meetings will be held from December 2009 to February 2010. Recruitment for the summer session will start in October.
The recruitment process is quite informal. We’d like to have a chance to meet you before the training, explain the program, and answer your questions.
To take part in the program, you must attend the training, and be available to work during some of the committee meeting period.
Next Volunteer Training Session: Wednesday December 2 2009 at Union House
Registration is essential.
