Approach to this family law ‘reform’ process reveals that the problem was represented to be father absence in the lives of children post-separation brought about by a biased family law system and mothers behaving badly. In doing so it ignored the evaluative research that emphasised a major failing in the family law system was its abject failure to protect women and children from violent men.
